Wateree Community Actions, Inc. (WCAI) is excited to announce the celebration of Community Action Month throughout May 2026, a time dedicated to recognizing the vital work being done to uplift individuals, empower families, and build stronger communities.

Community Action Month is a nationwide observance that shines a spotlight on the efforts of local agencies like WCAI that work every day to reduce poverty, promote self-sufficiency, and create opportunities for success. This year’s theme, “Helping People. Changing Lives.”, reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

The month-long celebration will kick off on May 1 with the official launch of The Community Action Promise, reaffirming WCAI’s mission to support and strengthen communities through comprehensive services and advocacy.

Throughout May, WCAI will highlight key focus areas each week:

• Week 1 (May 1–3): Advocacy & Awareness – Educating the community about the role of Community Action and advocating for programs that support families.
• Week 2 (May 4–10): Education & Family Support – Celebrating educators, honoring mothers, and showcasing programs that empower families through education.
• Week 3 (May 11–17): Health & Community Services – Recognizing healthcare professionals and promoting services that support healthy individuals and families.
• Week 4 (May 18–24): Economic Impact & Community Development – Highlighting initiatives that drive economic growth, job training, housing stability, and financial empowerment.
• Week 5 (May 25–31): Community Impact Recognition – Celebrating success stories and recognizing the staff, partners, and families who make this work possible.

WCAI encourages community members, partners, and stakeholders to get involved by following along on social media, participating in themed engagement days such as #MissionMonday, #TrainingTuesday, #ImpactWednesday, and #FunFriday, and sharing their own stories of impact.

“Community Action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live,” serves as a guiding principle for the organization’s work.

As WCAI celebrates Community Action Month, the agency remains dedicated to its mission of Helping People. Changing Lives. and invites the community to join in recognizing the power of collective action.
